​Jim Ricken loved all things horses!
  He was the persona of the ‘all-around' cowboy and horseman!
By trade he was a corrective farrier for over 15 years. He worked diligently to be the best source for keeping a horse’s foot healthy and in shape!  His talent and  his attitude paid off! 
He was admired and respected for his knowledge, achievements and outstanding results! His intuitive insight and dedication to the health and well-being of horses made him an icon in the horse world.  He was sought after to consult with vets, trainers and professional horseman on a regular basis. His opinion was valuable and trusted!
Jim trained racehorses for over 34 years in a wheelchair.  With, his wife and partner Sallie, who is a trainer in her own right, the two of them together developed horse therapy techniques that continue to be widely used and very popular today! A dynamic combination that was way ahead of their time!
1968 was the year Jim Ricken’s Foot Formula #1 TM
​ was formulated and the journey began!
Diligence and fortitude through the years has validated that Jim’s foot dressing is the first and original of it’s kind.  There may be others that try to imitate or copy the formula, but only Ricken’s, a familiar synonym for the product, has continued to provide relief to numerous horse breeds and disciplines for over 50 years!
